TPDC, Ferrostaal, Haldor Topsoe und Fauji: Joint Venture zur Errichtung eines Düngemittelkomplexes in Tansania mit Investitionsvolumen in Milliardenhöhe

(ots) - Das tansanische Staatsunternehmen Tanzania Petroleum
Development Corporation ist mit einem Konsortium um das deutsche
Unternehmen Ferrostaal Industrial Projects GmbH ein Joint Venture
eingegangen, um einen neuen Düngemittelgroßkomplex in Tansania zu
errichten. Das Investitionsvolumen für das Projekt beträgt über eine
Milliarde US-Dollar.

Bei diesem petrochemischen Komplex handelt es sich um die größte
deutsche Investition in Tansania und gleichzeitig um die erste
Düngemittelproduktionsanlage des Landes. Der Komplex soll im
tansanischen Süden entstehen und 2020 in Betrieb genommen werden. Mit
einem geplanten Produktionsvolumen von 1,3 Millionen Tonnen
Düngemittel pro Jahr werden so in dieser Region 5.000 direkte und
indirekte Arbeitsplätze geschaffen.

Dr. James Mataragio, Geschäftsführer der tansanischen Petroleum
Development Corporation, ist äußerst zuversichtlich: "Wir gehen davon
aus, dass wir dank der Anlage einen spürbaren Wandel in der
wirtschaftlichen Entwicklung Tansanias, insbesondere im Agrarsektor,
erleben werden. Die Wertschöpfung in Tansania wird damit eine
maßgebliche Steigerung erfahren. Zunächst freuen wir uns jedoch auf
die Aufgaben, die in der nächsten Projektphase vor uns liegen."
Gemeinsam mit den Partnern vor Ort - dem tansanischen National Social
Security Fund, dem größten Publikumsfonds des Landes zur Sicherung
des Sozialversicherungssystems in Tansania, und Minjingu Mines &
Fertiliser Ltd., einem bedeutenden Produktions- und
Vertriebsunternehmen für Düngemittel für die Region Ost-, Zentral-
und Südafrika - treibt das Joint Venture nun die Verhandlungen zur
Gewährleistung der Gasversorgung für das Projekt voran.

"Mit dieser Vereinbarung kommen wir einen großen Schritt weiter,
was die Steigerung der Düngemittelproduktion in Tansania anbelangt.

Durch das Joint Venture wird noch einmal deutlich, dass wir uns
Tansania gegenüber verpflichtet haben, dieses bedeutende Projekt
umzusetzen. Unser Erfolgsrezept hierbei ist die Kombination aus
Erfahrungen in der Investitionsförderung mit weltweiten
Spitzentechnologien", verrät der Geschäftsführer der Ferrostaal
Industrial Projects GmbH, Dr. Klaus Lesker, im Namen des Konsortiums,
das sich aus Ferrostaal, dem dänischen Unternehmen Haldor Topsoe A/S
und dem pakistanischen Industrieunternehmen Fauji Fertilizer Company
Ltd. zusammensetzt.

Der deutsche Botschafter in Tansania, Egon Kochanke, sieht "die
Investition als wichtigen Schritt in der wirtschaftlichen Entwicklung
Tansanias. Einerseits wird damit Tansanias industrielle Basis
gestärkt, andererseits wird das Land aber auch zum attraktiven
Investitionsstandort für deutsche Erfolgsunternehmen."

Bereits im Zuge eines Staatsbesuchs des deutschen
Bundespräsidenten Joachim Gauck im Februar dieses Jahres wurde
bekanntgegeben, dass das Konsortium um Ferrostaal den Zuschlag für
die Konstruktion des Komplexes erhalten hat, die im Rahmen einer
Ausschreibung vergeben wurde.
