miCal 4.0: iPhone-calendar offers optional task management!

Users will make no compromises when it comes to working with the iPhone or iPod touch as a mobile calendar. Rather than utilizing the provided calendar-app they prefer an enhanced app like the award-winning miCal. In 13 countries Apple?s miCal has been recommended as ?App of the Week?.

miCal works with all of your already existing calendars on your device. The appointment calendar will be automatically synchronized with Outlook, Exchange, Google Calendar and Facebook Events. It is certainly not a problem for miCal to display the individual appointments in different colors, depending on where they originated.

New appointments can be directly captured in miCal – including a detailed description, a from-to-time, possible repetition if it is desired.

The dashboard provides a quick overview. It shows the current time in a classical digital alarm clock format, gives the current weather condition based on the actual location, indicates forthcoming birthdays, and also provides a brief outline of upcoming appointments.

The dashboard also offers a fast orientation regarding pending dates. An in depth overview can be obtained by engaging the five different appointment layouts that let the user go rapidly back and forth between them. Appointments can be viewed in a daily, weekly, monthly, yearly and list-format overview that allows for convenient ?swiping? or scrolling through them with your finger.

miCal 4.0: Major update with optional task management

Effective immediately miCal is available in the 4.0 version. Many users are wondering how the app can still be improved.

From now on the calendar-app supports time zones. The desired time zone can be specified and subsequently all events are displayed according to the new setting. Whoever needs to move the home office from the USA to another country due to vacation time, can now have all appointments displayed in US time. This will make it much less complicated to conduct business across the ocean.

Additionally, the image loading for the birthday manager has been optimized. Displayed images will be cached for better performance. Images can be updated and the cache emptied by using the settings panel.

The biggest innovation: From now on miCal can be supplemented with an optional task management. This module can be retrofitted through in-app purchasing. Therefore the developers of miCal do not have to increase the price of the entire app – each user can freely decide whether he needs the task manager or not. It enables you to capture independent tasks and manage them in the app. A complimentary 24-hour test makes it possible to try the new function on your own device in comfort and without coercion.

The task manager is just as easy to use as an appointment planer. New tasks can be implemented on the app through a simple touch and be associated with a description, a deadline or a priority. To achieve a better overview, tasks may be entered into separate lists like ?urged? or ?regarding the house?. Tasks that have been completed can be checked off in the app.

Without difficulty miCal sorts the todo-fundus into so called ?smart lists? to specifically display all outstanding, completed or overdue tasks on the screen. It is possible to view entries that have high priority or to open certain targeted lists.

miCal 4.0: Now available at the app store
miCal 4.0 (16,8 MB) can be found in the iTunes App Store under ?productivity?. The app requires iOS 4.2 or higher and is sold for 1.99 US-Dollar. The task manager is 0.99 US-Dollar and can be retrofitted through in-app purchasing. The program is also available in a separate miCal HD version for the iPad.
