(firmenpresse) - The Berlin based firm ETLog Health EnviroTech & Logistics GmbH has been commissioned by the firm Fichtner Consulting & IT AG to collaborate with them in the realisation of a waste management project in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) The common goal is the privatization of the waste management industry in Abu Dhabi. The planned project will run for two years.
The economy of the UAE is a market economy in which the oil industry is the most important branch. The government however pays close attention to the development of the non-oil sector, for example through investment in electricity and sanitation provision, the health service and other infrastructure projects. Privatization and the development of the service sector also play a large roll in the planned diversification of the economy. One focus of this plan of this is the waste industry which presently is run to the most part by the state. ETLog Health EnviroTech & Logistics GmbH has produced a concept for the hospital-waste sector. It includes the areas of collection, external transport logistics as well as the central processing of hazardous waste. A range of scenarios will be developed, including amongst others, treatment procedures such as steam processing and the incineration of hazardous waste. All of the tests of the logistic processes and transport of hazardous materials are carried out under strict ob-servance of current UN standards.
According to Mr. Jan-Gerd Kuehling, the leader of the project on the ground, "a particular challenge involved in this project is the analysis of material flows. For example, in one hospital that we investigated, we observed a number of different waste-flows for waste requiring particular supervision.
ETLog Health EnviroTech & Logistics GmbH has already successfully handled various waste-disposal projects in the Middle East.
