Ribbit Announces a Free Cloud for Every Mobile Phone
3rd November, 2009 - Ribbit Mobile merges phones with the Internet to provide a back-up phone online, making it easier to manage calls, messages and phones Ribbit Corporation today announced the launch of a beta trial of Ribbit Mobile, a free web-based service that provides a new way for any mobile phone user to manage calls, messages and phones, whilst also providing them with a virtual online version of their mobile phone.
Ribbit Mobile enables mobile phone users to answer their mobile phone on the internet, make calls using their mobile caller ID via the internet, read voicemails as email or SMS text and route calls to be answered on any phone. As Ribbit Mobile is a cloud-based service, it works with virtually all mobile phones, not just smart phones.
The service is the second cloud computing application to be launched in the UK using the Ribbit communications technology, following the launch of Ribbit for Salesforce from BT Business in April this year. BT acquired the Silicon Valley company in July 2008, signalling the company?s entry into the cloud services market.
JP Rangaswami, Managing Director, BT Innovate Design and Chairman, Ribbit said: "Mobile phones and the Internet are vital communications tools, but they haven?t worked well together? until now? Ted Griggs, Chief Executive of Ribbit, said: "There are more than 60 million mobile phones in the UK today, and the Ribbit Mobile service works with most of them. You don?t need a new number or a new device, and you don?t have to download software or sign a contract. You simply activate Ribbit on your phone and go.?
"We built Ribbit Mobile for people who always want to be connected and not restricted by the capabilities of their mobile device says Ted Griggs. "As long as you have Internet connection, you will always be able to make and receive calls and get your messages, even if you don?t have your phone with you.? Ribbit Mobile was built on the Ribbit Platform ? a robust, scalable platform that enables Ribbit?s extensive developer community to create new and innovative voice applications and services to extend the features of Ribbit Mobile. As more applications get added, the service becomes even richer. "In the future, no one will buy a mobile phone without a cloud backup,? says Ted Griggs. "Ribbit Mobile represents the first step in that future.?
